Distinguish Between New & Existing Email Addresses, Customers

We are in the process of creating a journey that has different messaging and cadence based on whether a qualifying contact is a repeat customer with a new email address, or a new customer with a new email address. Right now we are unable to identify these audiences, since the system has no way to tell if the email address is new to file. We'd like the ability to segment on whether email addresses are new vs. existing to database.

Our setup has a first purchase date and a most recent purchase date. However, we are only seeing an email address modified date (which overwrites ongoing) and not email address add/opt in date in the system. How can we get an email opt in date added?

    Hey Jenny,

Sorry for that long radio silence.  I see you mentioned "we are only seeing an email address modified date (which overwrites ongoing) and not email address add/opt in date in the system. How can we get an email opt in date added", but we do expose the Email opt in column within the database search column as well as within the Query builder.  Could you help me understand more about where exposing the Email opt in date would be beneficial for you?
