Testing a Programs Flow Before Activating

The ability to speed up a test scenario before making a program active. It currently takes hours for a test contact to enter and exit through 1 path of a program. At this speed it takes days to test multiple paths of a program and even longer if you need to make changes and re-test paths.

We agree! This is an item that we are researching as we continue to iterate on the New Programs feature.

I'm with you on this, I used to be able to test a full program in minutes in other automation software, this would be really helpful.

Typically to test I do a few things.  1) set delays to zero as the waits cause delays when you are testing the flow.  2) Old programs you can approve for sales check box (maybe new also?).  This allows you to find a contact in the database and push them into a program.  Could be helpful, rather than waiting for the program to scoop someone up...  If you are concerned about the entrance query that this would skip, you can run the query on it's own to see if criteria is met.

    Hope this helps

Update: New programs do allow "Approved for Sales" option.  In addition to modifying the program to zero waits, you'd also want to set the entrance to not bring in contacts at all.  So when you activate it, it's sitting there waiting for testing and not real contacts.

    Thanks B,

I do a similar routine, zero days wait time and approved for sales pushing in my own test contact through the contacts email insights. For some reason we still have a long wait time for my contact to flow through, hours long. We are accessing relational table data for some rules so maybe this slows down the program.

I agree with this idea & the previous comments. I've had issues with delays when trying to test programs so it would be great to get the processes sped up.

This was the very first thing came up in my mind from the perspective of testing even before creating campaigns...

You definitely should have some sort of simulation of time like shrinking 6 months campaigns to a certain period of time like a day / week. Now if you change delays to 0 there is a bigger risk of manual mistakes when adjusting back to original timings. We had these delay issues when testing this with IBM representative and small test database...
